2013 Notes

Please be aware that responsive pages (easy to read on a cellphone or tablet) are being made available on a gradual basis. Remotely hosted pages will be done last. So if you go to a page that is not yet converted to the new structure and format, you will have to use your [back] button to return, or scroll to the bottom of the page.

Conversion Notes:

Conversion to the final format is now complate. -rs

User Note for the 2012 Updated AGORA Index

Most of the the Aromatherapy Global Online Research Archive pages were originally published in 1998-2000, when computer screens were were smaller and browsers were "primitive". Although many pages are now revised, for optimum viewing, it is recommended that you set your browser width so the right side is in about the middle of the second column. Also, please note that many of the e-mail addresses are obsolete.

Technically, this is not an index. It is a Table of Contents. But historically it was entitled Index, and to assure link continuity we need to keep it that way. Perhaps someday we can have a real Index, with links to keywords throughout the site. Any Volunteers? (Contact us via Twitter DM.)

Note Added in 2014:

Some remote files that are not accessible for editing have been updated to current format and duplicate hosted on the Agoraindex.org site. The main index entries still go to the unformatted remote site, but a link (View New Format) to the formatted site has been added to the right of the index entry for those pages.

Note added in 2015:

All articles are now upgraded to responsive format in their main entry.

Future Plans

The Aromatherapy Research papers presented in the original archive have in many cases been superseded or upgraded by more current aromatherapy research. We hope to be able to add links to more recent work when appropriate. Suggestions will be graciously accepted; please email links and suggestions to admin@agoraindex.org or tweet us at @AGORAAroma.

AGORA, The Aromatherapy Global Online Research Archives is a unique non-commercial, website, contributed to by about eighty people world-wide. We are working to promote the serious, intelligent and SAFE use of essential oils for healing the body, mind and spirit. The various pages on this website are hosted in different places, internationally, reflecting the worldwide nature of the interest and participation in aromatherapy. The origin of this project came from a dream of Michel Vanhove, who hosts the official homepage.
I expressed an old dream on the idma aromatherapy mailing list on 16/2/1998: "I dream of a better use of the web possibilities and a cooperation of webpage owners or designers, to make a huge common work on aromatherapy and related subjects. Different people cooperating with the same purpose: making info available and enabling communication. If we would cooperate, one member would make some space on his/her pages for long updated references on books, another person could keep updated a huge link page, sorted by subject and country with clear descriptions, another making images available..."

-Michel Vanhove
