Athlete's foot

I'm not an athlete so I don't have this condition. But seriously, this is caused by over-sweating of the feet providing a nice home for fungi. This treatment is from Worwood's book.

Baking powder 1 tablespoon
Sage (Salvia officinalis) 2 drops
Tea Tree (Melaluca alternifolia) 2 drops

Mix everything in a plastic bag well and use it to dust feet once a day. You can also put a pinch in each shoe overnight to rid it of odor and bacteria. Keep the feet dry. It's also a good idea to alternate shoes, in other words, do not wear the same pair every day.

This is a recipe from a listmember.

Lemongrass (Cymbopogan Flexuosus) 8 drops
Tagetes (Tagetes Minut) 3 drops
Tea Tree (Melaluca alternifolia) 4 drops

The Essential oils are then diluted to a 5% dilution, to 15ml in a carrier oil. My preferance would be Macadmia Nut, but any suitable vegetable carrier oil will do.

This blend of oils can be massaged on to the feet and between the toes. Use once or twice a day.

It will show its effect on mild infections in a week to ten days, and more pernicious infections in three to four weeks. However I have seen it take as long as ten weeks to clear one infection.

What is great about this blend is it will help keep the feet fresh and can be used as preventative messure as well. As you dont need lots of oil either it is much cheaper than any other solution to this problem on the market too.

2013 Notes

Emails on this page are obsolete.

AGORA, The Aromatherapy Global Online Research Archives is a unique non-commercial, website, contributed to by about eighty people world-wide. We are working to promote the serious, intelligent and SAFE use of essential oils for healing the body, mind and spirit. The various pages on this website are hosted in different places, internationally, reflecting the worldwide nature of the interest and participation in aromatherapy. The origin of this project came from a dream of Michel Vanhove, who hosts the official homepage.
I expressed an old dream on the idma aromatherapy mailing list on 16/2/1998: "I dream of a better use of the web possibilities and a cooperation of webpage owners or designers, to make a huge common work on aromatherapy and related subjects. Different people cooperating with the same purpose: making info available and enabling communication. If we would cooperate, one member would make some space on his/her pages for long updated references on books, another person could keep updated a huge link page, sorted by subject and country with clear descriptions, another making images available..."

-Michel Vanhove
